Inglourious Basterds (2009)

I can't imagine a director whose thirst for blood and violence is greater than Quentin Tarantino's. (At least in his films) Inglourious Basterds is no different. We all know Tarantino, the guy who exploded on the scene in the early 90s with cult classics, such as Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Since, he has been a disappointment for some. Well, I am relieved to say, Tarantino has not lost his touch. He brings us his best since Pulp Fiction and thankfully so. [full synopsis]

Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009)

First of all, we all know what this movie was. It was an attempt to kill off (not literally) the Hannah Montana character because the "beautiful and talented" Miley wants to "spread her wings" and be able to work on bigger projects. This movie is supposed to be the final note on the subject, so Miley can leave her Hannah persona behind for good, while making a sh*tload of money from seven-year-old girls.

Final Destination (2009)

This entry to the series takes a different approach. From the moment I saw the X-rayed-death-scene opening credit sequence with the hard rock cover of the creepy main theme of the series, I knew that the movie was not to be taken seriously, and a little help from the third dimension drove that idea home. Fans of the series are either going to love it or think its OK and almost everyone else will hate it. SO If you've stuck it out through the other 3 films, check it out, and don't take it seriously. Mulholland Dr (2001)

Is this your type of film? Well, that depends. You should probably view more of Lynch's work before watching this movie. You'll need to be patient with the film, and probably watch it a second time to pick up the many clues Lynch has left throughout the movie. For Lynch fans, this is a dream come true.

"Mulholland Dr." is a masterpiece. It's brilliant, enigmatic, and masterfully filmed. I love it. [full synopsis]

Behind Enemy Lines (2001)

The film itself was good, it certainly delivered action, suspense, and for the most part, fun. The characters were solid, and director John Moore emphisised the war - torn cities of Bosnia quite well (which was one of the highlights of the film). Owen Wilson, did a good job at portraying a character way out of his comfort zone, and Vladimir Mashkov was chilling as a Serbian sniper. [full summary]

Blow (2001)

If you want to know anything about George Jung and how cocaine got to be such a hot item in America, then this film does make some excellent points. With the poor economy in America where blue-collar workers are in borderline poverty while CEOs rip them off something blind, it really is a wonder we aren't seeing the rise of an army composed of George Jung wannabes.

In all, I gave Blow an eight out of ten. [full synopsis]

Bruno (2009)

All I know is that I laughed a lot during this movie. It will once again lead to lots of controversy and imitation at thousands of workplaces around the globe. Maybe it is therefore best if you know what it is about.

But be warned. If you are easily offended, you will be offended. Majorly. [full synopsis]

Remember The Titan (2000)

Washington and Patton are just two pieces of the puzzle, which makes "Remember The Titans" a real gem. However, the strength and real beauty of "Remember The Titans" does not come from Washington or Patton, but the Titan football players because they are the ones who give the strongest performances in the film.

"Remember The Titans" is a special film that has special performances and is well worth every dollar you spend to rent this film. [full synopsis]

The Kite Runer (2007)

The Kite Runner was beautiful, poignant and very moving. I particularly loved the two child actors in the film as well as the actor portraying the father. It really made me want to go back and read the book again. I would love to see it again on a really large screen with a tricked out sound system.

Can't wait for the formal release. I will definitely recommend the film to friends. [full synopsis]

300 (2007)

This movie is more than an action movie for me. It's about love, camaraderie, the defending of what they love, of what they believe in. It's about the power not to give up but follow their destiny and to do what they think is the right thing to do. And it's also about the big love between the King and the Queen. For me personally this movie is unique. It's a masterpiece of visual effects, color, sounds, soundtrack and the absolutely stunning performance of the actors. [full synopsis]
